There's been plenty of Coasties who have released new music over the last two weeks, so let's check out some of the best new releases from here and across the Nation.
Fletcher Kent - Are You Ready
Fletch's second single under his new name is just as raw and thought-provoking as his debut single, 'I'll Be'.
Fletcher says that ‘Are You Ready’ is really a conversation he was having with himself —asking whether he felt prepared to embrace adulthood. It's a relatable theme for anyone who has pondered the same question.
Sonically, the track follows a similar style to his debut release, drawing influence from Gang of Youths among others. The trumpets in this track are a really nice touch as well.
If you want to learn more about Fletch's new chapter in his musical career, we spoke with him towards the end of last year, check it out.
Stella Hannagan - The House
Stella is somewhat of an old friend of Homebrewed. She performed at our first ever public live show of sorts in Long Jetty as part of Neighbourhoods Festival back in 2021. Since then, she's been working away, and has now released her debut single, 'The House'.
Unfortunately for us here on the Coast, Stella has made the move to Melbourne both for music and for study. However, she's still a Coastie at heart, and there's another single in the works for mid-March!
BOY SODA - Lil' Obsession
Hailing from the Coast, BOY SODA is one of our more successful exports to the global music market, and this track proves exactly why. BOY SODA's had standout performances for the Sydney Kings NBL and luxury label Hermès, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's even more in-demand after this.
You could say we have a 'Lil' Obsession' about this track *ba doom tish!
With more releases planned for 2025, be sure to keep an eye our for BOY SODA if you aren't already!
Old Mervs - Everyone Will See It
It's new and fresh, but still the same catchy rock that we love from Old Mervs!
Even better, the WA group have announced more than just a new single. Old Mervs will be going on tour later this year, AND releasing their debut self-titled album in a couple of months!
Now feels like a really good time to get around the band if you aren't already. Keep in touch for their debut album or National tour here.
Michelle Murrell - I Wear Your Chain
This one is Michelle Murrell's ighth single, a deeply emotional track inspired by the loss of her mother. The single is part of Murrell's debutcalbum, Flannel Flowers, due for release later in 2025.
The Central Coast local has this tack produced by acclaimed musician Bill Chambers, and has a local flavour to it as the song features Michelle's good friend Meagan Jane on backing vocals and Gabbi Louise on violin.
A poignant reflection on grief and love, “I Wear Your Chain” draws listeners into Murrell’s journey of healing and
remembrance. Murrel describes this track as "hauntingly beautiful", and this feels appropriate.
Spoilers for next week's possible picks!
In other Central Coast music news, over the next week we can expect new releases from Chelsea Berman, Libby Rose, Phoebe Joy, Ally Goerge, and more!
